The doctor asks me how I feel and I tell him not too bad, not so good. Everyone feels that way he tells me, it’s something in the air, something in the water, something in the soil, something in our heads. Okay, I say, so what can you do for me? And he says, I’ve got a pill for everything; you name it and there’s a pill to make it go away, a pill to bring it back, to get it up, to bring it down, a pill to counteract the pill you just took, a pill to get you off the pills you can’t stop popping because you just can’t believe you could ever feel that good. Is it true, I ask, that there’s a pill that will do everything? Well, he says, I’ve got one that will do whatever you want, but it’s hard to swallow.
